Pregnancy & Womens Health
Women's health physiotherapy is a very specialised area of physiotherapy concentrating on conditions and injuries, which occur to females. Physiotherapy is recommended as the first treatment option for women who experience pre and post natal musculoskeletal conditions according to the NICE guidelines. We recognise the sensitivity around Women's Health related issues and the importance of providing a private, discreet and informative treatment area.
Some of the conditions that we treat are:
- Stress incontinence
- Pelvic floor strengthening
- Trauma following birth
- Pre natal and post natal aches and pains
- Pelvic pain
- Core weakness
- Postural analysis
We use several treatment techniques and approaches individual to each patient such as pelvic floor exercises, spinal and pelvic mobilisations, gym ball and mat based programmes. Furthermore, pilates exercises are often used targeting the tummy, back and pelvic floor muscles without straining other joints.

Physiotherapists who work in the field of women's health can correct nearly 70% of incontinence problems.
Each year, about 1 in every 25 people will seek medical help for a "sports" injury, but not all of those injuries are sustained while playing sports.
