Physio is not just for Olympians!

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Brazil is held later today. It is easy to assume these super fit sports people are healthy and injury free, but many of the athletes you will watch have had to deal with injuries and niggles during the lead up phase to the games.

Some competitors will be competing with injuries and doing all they can to manage the symptoms and minimise their effects on performance. Another group of these atheltes will be managing longer term wear & tear injuries such as chronic tendinitis and early joint arthritis. Physiotherapists play a key role in the medical teams providing treatment, rehabilitation and management of such injuries.

It is important to remember that Physiotherapy is not just for this elite group of people. We can all benefit from the expert treatment, rehabilitation and advice from Chartered Physiotherapists to help or prevent injuries and niggles that may be stopping us performing to our best of affecting our quality of life.

Whether that’s sport, hobbies, work or playing with the children, you may be able to resolve or minimise your aches and pains that get in the way of what you want to do.

Hope you all enjoy watching the Rio Olympics and following inspirational stories this event will provide. Good Luck Team GB.
